About

ABOUT

Tonja Matney Reynolds writes literary and woman-centric historical fiction. Her completed novel DOGWOOD RAIN tells the story of a preacher's daughter who gets caught up in a power struggle in a 1930s Appalachian coal town. 

She is currently working on a historical novel about the problem with unchecked power in a society where women have no rights.

Tonja is represented by Amy Collins at Talcott Notch Literary.

Her short stories have appeared in Still: The Journal, 100 Word Story, Streetlight Magazine, The Hong Kong Review, Women Speak anthologies, and elsewhere. Her short stories have been nominated for Pushcart Prizes and for inclusion in Best Small Fictions and placed in contests.

Tonja served as a Peter Taylor Fellow for the Kenyon Review Writers Workshop and was awarded the Michael Kenneth Smith Novel Fellowship at Porches. Her novel was longlisted for Regal House Publishing's 2020 Petrichor Prize for Finely Crafted Fiction.
